Busy already in 2011

Our themes this year so far have been winter/luau!  We can celebrate winter and summer at the same time!

He had already removed the gloves, but this art project was painting with gloves and mittens.

Fun marshmallow structures!

Working on fine motor skills while playing in the water.  Using tongs to catch the luau rubber duckies

After rinsing out the gloves and mittens from our art project, we placed them outside to dry.  this began our week long science experiment.  everyday the children were interested to see how they freeze instead of drying out.  This week I will continue the experiment because the temperature will be going up some.  maybe they will dry this week?

Snow/sand angel!

during music this week, the children were able to use instruments straight out of the kitchen!  pots and pans, measuring cups, measuring spoons, etc.

another science experiment we did recently is catch snowflakes on the paper so they were able to really see the shapes.  It was more exciting for me I think, they were more interested in catching the snowflakes in their mouth :)

Luau relay races.  they had to walk with the beach balls between their legs.  It was very difficult for them, but very fun!  we also had them balance rubber duckies on their head :)

Hula dancing!

Our grocery store prop box is a hit!

this is coconut bob!

The children did not like the coconut milk!  They enjoyed using the hammer to break it open though!
